Ambientato tra il mare Adriatico e lo Ionio (dove c’è stato un aumento della mortalità oncologica e polmonare della popolazione pugliese dagli inizi degli anni’80 a causa della Centrale Termoelettrica a carbone Enel Federico II di Cerano-Brindisi e dell’Ilva a Taranto), il tableau fotografico, è diviso in 10 riquadri, di cui i 6 laterali, culminano con le costruzioni dell’abusivismo edilizio fronte mare. Nel centro, due sequenze interrotte da un fascio energetico che separa le azioni di un ragazzo, il quale, sfidando le proprie paure, si appresta al tuffo che lo farà diventare adulto. Nel video-poema “Mare dentro. Mare fuori “, il giovane ragazzo, si tuffa dalla grotta della “Poesia” di San Foca, un luogo mitico che, secondo la tradizione pugliese, sancisce il passaggio dall’età adolescenziale a quella adulta. Poesia deriva dalla parola greca “Posia”, che significa sorgente.

Nell’ecosistema marino, emergono antichi tesori sommersi ma anche i resti postumi di una contemporaneità del consumismo sfrenato. Il tuffo, permetterà al ragazzo di diventare adulto, ma…. della stessa materia organica da cui si lancia. Emerge, qui, l’eterno funzionamento della vita, i vari livelli di consapevolezza del sé, l’energia potenziale positiva o negativa, che i Buddisti chiamano “Karma”, e che descrivono come una corrente impetuosa che interagisce con gli altri stati di coscienza e che a livelli profondi, torna a manifestarsi e influenza i nostri pensieri, parole e azioni creative, distruttive, egoiste o altruiste sull’ambiente in cui viviamo e sulla nostra vita. Il video-poema è composto da fotografie con testo e audio con rumore del mare.

ONCE UPON A TIME THE SEA, 1997-2020

Video Poem (01 ‘: 11’ ‘)

Set between the Adriatic Sea and the Ionian Sea (where there has been an increase in cancer and lung mortality of the Apulian population since the early 1980s due to the Enel Federico II coal-fired thermoelectric plant in Cerano-Brindisi and Ilva in Taranto ), the photographic tableau, is divided into 10 squares, of which the 6 lateral ones, culminate with the unauthorized buildings facing the sea. In the center, two sequences interrupted by an energetic beam that separates the actions of a boy, who, challenging his fears, prepares for the dive that will make him become an adult. In the video-poem “Mare dentro. Mare fuori/Sea inside. Sea out “, the young boy dives from the cave of” poetry “in San Foca, a mythical place that, according to the Apulian tradition, marks the transition from adolescence to adulthood. Poetry comes from the Greek word “Posia” which means source.

In the marine ecosystem, ancient submerged treasures emerge but also the posthumous remains of a contemporaneity of unbridled consumerism. The dive will allow the boy to become an adult, but…. of the same organic matter from which it is launched. Here emerges the eternal functioning of life, the various levels of self-awareness, the positive or negative potential energy, which Buddhists call “Karma”, and which they describe as an impetuous current that interacts with other states of consciousness. and that at deep levels, it returns to manifest itself and affects our creative, destructive, selfish or altruistic thoughts, words and actions on the environment in which we live and on our lives. The video-poem is composed of photographs with text and audio with the sound of the sea.

“Sono qui.. nelle lande dei Sesioti..fertile terra di ORO nero..giaginto dei DAMMUSI…del muschio arancione che riveste il sese del RE.. mentre resti di cinte murarie si inarcano tra sterpi e ficodindie..Muri screpolati dal TEMPO raccontano storie di vita contadina di UOMINI e DONNE votati..nell’orizzonte calmo che si confonde con il MARE..in questa terra colonizzata da tanti popoli e che si restituisce allo sguardo, nella sua maestosità e bellezza sovrana. Scale che portano ad un ALTROVE. Ipogei termali che raccolgono le acque piovane, dissetando la terra brulla e nera. Natura vulcanica che esplode nelle varietà di flora mediterranea e che si innalza al CIELO in una antica preghiera…di PACE e di riconcilliazione con il DIO nascosto e adorato sin dall’antichità….acquedotti, cisterne e ipogei, come canali di trasmissione tra cielo e terra…che abbeverano fosse di FANCIULLI restituiti all’eternità.  Rocce che celano segreti di un tempo passato, di guerre e di fame, di sogni sospesi…qui nello specchio di VENERE, il lago di sale che ha ispirato artisti e poeti…la visione di un mondo lontano e arcaico mi porta nel MITO di un tempo, che vide amanti la ninfa CALIPSO e il naufrago ULISSE…nell’abbraccio tra MARE e cielo…nello scorgere dell’infinito..che scende come polline dorato sulla TERRA…PANTELLERIA, l’isola dai forti contrasti, dove il vento e la quiete, segnano i contorni di un paesaggio greve e sonnambulo”.

“I am here .. in the Sesioti heathlands .. fertile land of black GOLD..gamma of the DAMMUSI … of the orange moss that covers the Sese of the KING .. while remains of walls are arched between brushwood and prickly pears .. Cracked walls from TIME they tell stories of peasant life of VOTE MEN and WOMEN..in the calm horizon that merges with the SEA..in this land colonized by many peoples and which returns to the eye, in its majesty and sovereign beauty. to an ELSEWHERE. Thermal hypogea that collect rainwater, quench the thirst of the barren and black earth. Volcanic nature that explodes in the varieties of Mediterranean flora and that rises to the SKY in an ancient prayer … of PEACE and of reconciliation with the hidden GOD and adored since ancient times …. aqueducts, cisterns and hypogea, as channels of transmission between heaven and earth … that water the pits of GIRLS returned to eternity. Rocks that conceal secrets of a past time, of wars and hungry, I know of dreams spent … here in the mirror of VENUS, the salt lake that inspired artists and poets … the vision of a distant and archaic world takes me to the MYTH of the past, which saw lovers the nymph CALIPSO and the shipwrecked ULISSE. ..in the embrace between the SEA and the sky … in seeing the infinite .. which descends like golden pollen on the EARTH … PANTELLERIA, the island with strong contrasts, where the wind and the quiet, mark the contours of a heavy and sleepwalking landscape “.
